BOOKING CONDITIONS

All bookings are made and accepted subject to the terms set out in these conditions.
This contract will be construed in accordance with English Law and it is agreed between us that each party will submit to the jurisdiction of the English Courts.

On occasions it may be necessary to charge an additional refundable deposit which will be required in cash at the beginning of the trip and will be refunded on successful completion of that event. The deposit may be required to cover repatriation, guarantee air fares or cover damage to the vessel. See also Safety and security on board Meniscus

All clients are responsible for arranging their own travel, health, medical, injury, third party liability and cancellation insurance.

PAYMENT
  • A deposit of 30% of the total holiday price is required to secure a booking.
  • We regret that no booking can be reserved until we have received a deposit or full payment. There are often several people trying to book the same place and we can only take your booking and confirm it once we have received your payment. Once you have reserved your flights and made whatever other arrangements may be necessary we advise you to confirm your intention to book by email and send payment as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.
  • We will endeavour to confirm your holiday within 7 days of receipt of your booking.
  • Payment of the balance and the refundable security deposit is due 60 days before joining your Charter, Holiday, Course or Cruise.
  • If payment is not received within this time scale or for any reason your payment is not confirmed we shall consider the booking cancelled. The cancellation charges set out below will apply.
  • We also reserve the right to take other bookings unless we receive your deposit and the balance as set out above.

CANCELLATIONS

In the event that you cancel your holiday the following charges will apply with effect from the date that notification of your cancellation is received in writing or by email.

If you have to cancel your holiday more than 90 days before your holiday we will unfortunately have to make a 30% administration charge. If between 60 and 90 days there will be a 50% charge. If 60 days or less we regret that no refund can be made if your place cannot be filled. We will endeavour to re-sell your place and if successful we will refund your payment less the administration charge.

Should you wish to change your holiday rather than canceling, a charge, based on the cost of the holiday originally booked, will apply as outlined above. We will be happy to do this whenever it is possible.

When arranging travel insurance you are advised to ensure that you have adequate cancellation insurance to provide adequate cover should you need to change your plans. It is also your responsibility to insure yourself for any other risks such as health, injury, travel delays etc.

Should it be necessary for us to cancel your holiday, you may either transfer the funds paid to make another booking or receive a full refund. We regret that we cannot be responsible for additional expenses for travel or accommodation which might be incurred.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE CHANGE YOUR HOLIDAY?

It is very unlikely that we will need to make any changes to your holiday arrangements as plenty of time has been built into the itinerary for maintaining Meniscus, and for hold-ups resulting from unfavourable weather conditions or other unforeseen factors.

However, should it be necessary to make any significant changes to your booking, such as changes of greater than 24 hours in when you will be able to join/leave Meniscus, or location alterations which require arrival and/or departure from a different airport, we shall advise you as early as possible. In these circumstances, should you decide that you are no longer able to take your holiday, you may either transfer the full funds paid to make a booking for another part of the trip, or receive a full refund of the cost of your holiday.

The itinerary sets out the intended route and ports of call along the way. Whilst we have sought to ensure that descriptions of destinations are accurate, this cannot be guaranteed.

All efforts will be made to adhere to the itinerary, and to accommodate any routing requests made by crew members, however the final decision about where and when Meniscus will travel lies with the skipper, Mark Holroyd. He will decide, on the basis of the safety of Meniscus and her crew, and using all relevant information available to him, whether a passage shall be made and whether under sail or power. If, for example due to adverse weather conditions, Meniscus is unable to call at one or more of the destinations outlined in the itinerary, it is regretted that no refunds can be made.
